Some comments about the 2008 SpringFest

Naomi Kikoak - Manager of the East Coulee School Museum:
"Life is all about accommodating each other...or maybe not: 'I ain't sleepin' with the bass player I can tell ya that!' from a band member of Broken Smoke, talking about overnight musician accommodations for SpringFest"

Howard Schafer, former student, coming into the cluttered School Museum office right after SpringFest:
“Holy smokes. Was anybody killed by the blast?”

John Spearn, musician:
“Your Fest was totally and absolutely grand...well done!!! Thanks again for all the opp's and it was an honour to do the spot. Wouldn't miss it next time either if the good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise....WYP I'd love to come back for '09!!!”

Something to ruminate about:
“We all had a great time - thanks again for letting The Ruminants play. Michael Platt”

Kathy Cook, musician:
“One of my favorite festivals for sure”

Darla Sawatsky, Medicine Hat Folk Music Club
“Congratulations on organizing such a terrific festival. I really, really enjoyed it.”

Alison Demeter, musician:
“This was my third year performing at East Coulee. I've come to love the festival and as a singer/songwriter who is relatively unknown, I truly appreciate the opportunity to share my music. Thank you for all you have done and for getting the festival back up and running.”

Jan Krueger, frontman for the local band the TIPPLErs:
"Yeah, it was a blast! the TIPPLErs thank you for all of your work in making this event happen! Cheers! Jan"

Erin Young: Medicine River Wildlife Centre presenter and attendee of SpringFest 08:
"Thanks for the note. We enjoyed our time at Springfest. My talks went well, although my groups were quite small. The music and festival in general was great! My daughter was thrilled with the music and took part more than she ever has before. " It was a nice feeling there and I wish I could have seen and heard more.

Lothar Malmberg: Magician
"I found the crowds overall to be fun and full. I was also impressed with the two young guys attending the back door of the school. (N’s note: Dustin Kearn and Taylor Amthor). I thought they were fairly concientious and they were ready and willing to help move benches in the science room when asked. Kudos to them."

Carol Gogol of Starland Sadie
"Hi Terry. Just a note to congratulate you on an excellent festival. The entertainment was very high caliber and everything seemed to run smoothly. We had a good set. Thanks for everything. "

Mandy and Peter of Pied Piper Sound Productions; sound crew for SpringFest and advisors:
"The Piper crew including Mike from the hotel had a great time and have already signed on for next year."

Sue Somerville, evening admissions volunteer:
"I really enjoyed the spring fest. Good things: beautiful singers, the free lunch, wristbands organised and easy to do, enjoyed the venues.

And a final word from Val and John:

I am not someone who normally writes back on events I have attended.... but I just could not let this one go....

John and myself would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to ALL involved in the Spring Fest. This was our "1st" time attending East Coulee Spring Fest and it was AMAZING, what an incredible amount of dedication and love of music we seen put forth in order to hold "Spring Fest."

Guaranteed we won't be missing another one! The talent was IMPECCABLE and unending, we are enjoying all the CD's we came home with!!! What a line of talent.
Thanks again to ALL of you involved - what a wonderful community you have, we felt very welcome anywhere we roamed, and to see the number of volunteers an event like this brought out was heartwarming.

CONGRATS! ON A VERY MEMORABLE SPRING FEST,
See you all next year...
